twenty three million.

Twenty three million people in the United States are living with diabetes. Ninety two million finger pricks and insulin injections a day, at a minimum.  $30 a day is spent on diabetic supplies per person.

We, at diabeTECH, see this as an issue. The emotional and physical stresses that are put on a diabetic person cannot be measured.

We are working hard to rid the world of finger pricks, carb counting and injections, with our implant, app and insulin pump connected through low energy bluetooth technology.

Our story begins at Camp Inc., in Boulder, Colorado, on a bus ride back to camp from a day visiting non-profits in Boulder. Rebecca, our CEO, was talking about how she wished that she didn't have to take her blood sugar. Then, she got an idea. What if she didn't?

The idea for an implant, app and insulin pump, was developed in about a minute. The people around Rebecca, Zachary, Kaylie and Valerie, threw in their ideas as well. Rebecca proposed the idea at a group brain storming business session, and It was voted into the top 6.

On Sunday, the teams were announced for startups. Rebecca and Zachary were paired off right away, and then had to solve a puzzle to find Valerie and Kaylie.

The team was born.

Throughout the duration of Camp Inc., the team did all the research they could, developed a business pitch to give to a panel of investors, and ignited passion within one another to make a change.

After Camp Inc., the team is working hard to continue with partnerships, research and product development.
